As Eid, which generally comes in the month of August, is a national holiday and the audience remains in festive mood for quite some time, the filmmaker thought it proper to cash in on the opportunity.
It may be recalled that Salman Khan has been ruling the roost at the box -office on Eid with his blockbusters like ‘Wanted’, ‘Bodyguard’ and then ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. And, King Khan now wants to repeat that feat for his own starrer ‘Chennai Express’.
However, this does not mean that Shah Rukh Khan will not have any competition at the box- office for ‘Chennai Express’. In fact, Sunny Deol, another bollywood biggie of repute, has decided to release his upcoming ‘Singh Sahab the Great’ on the same day.
Earlier, Sunny’s flick was expected to clash at the box- office with Salman Khan starrer but now it will be Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chennai Express’. And no, Sunny Deol’s film, which is being directed by ace filmmaker Anil Sharma, will not be postponed even for King Khan’s flick.
In any case, Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol have a history of animosity from their first flick ‘Darr’, wherein Sunny Deol was the lead opposite Juhi Chawla. However, the credit for the success of the film went to Shah Rukh Khan who had played an obsessed lover of Juhi in the film.
